The Interact Club of OIS OGC planned a donation drive on Saturday 8th June, 2024. The donation drive was organised at Malad West and Goregaon, in order to support those within our community. As a part of our project, we donated educational resources to facilitate learning (toys, novels, educational books, notebooks), kids and adults’ clothing, reusable cloth diapers, and sanitary napkins. These items were provided to those in need, residing under flyovers, on footpaths, and in labour/slum colonies.
The donation drive was organised by the club in a meticulous manner, ensuring that the indispensable steps were taken at appropriate times. Firstly, the resources and items gathered for the donation drive (books, toys, clothing, household utilities etc.) were obtained by asking students at OIS to donate their old and unused items that were associated with the materials and resources listed above. From encouraging our friends personally, to performing announcements in classrooms during Homeroom. The club members then worked tirelessly to separate and organise the donated items. The items were packaged in cartons and were transported to Malad West for distribution. Two of the club members (Dhwanie Arora and Mehek Sahai) generously volunteered to spend their Saturday helping with the donation drive.
Through the drive, we donated over 7 cartons worth of clothing, and educational resources, 20 cloth diapers, 150 sanitary napkins, 20 kgs of Ration and pre cooked/packaged foods (packaged drinks, sandwiches).
We believe that donation drives are integral in order to acknowledge our community requirements and give back to needy individuals. Increasing access to education, providing basic clothing, supporting mothers in providing for their children, and ensuring that women attain the necessary products to successfully manage their menstrual health can significantly enhance their quality of life in our community, as well as help us do our bit to make a difference.
